I am a PHP Programmer. So yes I could say that I only know about it. Actually I learn every kinds of programming language on college. But this is how we work, "if you want to be a programmer, just focus on what language you want to study, choose one the most you like". For this reason, I focus on my Web Programming. It's maybe the easiest programming language as ever I study in college. That's why I choose it :p
Well, moving on, this is a simple ways how to become a php programmer. A Beginner of course. Level where you can start over from bottom. Note that this is not my tips but I get it from Wikihow. Enjoy!
You should know what can accessed, what media you have to use when you learn the programming. And you should know that it's not necessarily working on the internet. You should know what the meaning by : HTTP, FTP, HTML, XML, JSP, etc.
Browse many diverse websites to learn about how they usually look.
Look the source of the program, by right click and view page source to learn the differences about one and another.
Learn at least one brainstorming technique/method and a software that is used to implement that method.
Learn as much you can about MS Visio that usually use for built the method, and any other software.
Get familiar with website structuring.
This is including diagram, site-maps, and navigation.
Take a crash course on graphics design.
This is important. Without a good design, the website wouldn't attract people to come and see.
Learn the basics of the internet infrastructure.
Like web browsing software, web service protocol, mail server, etc.
Learn the HTML and CSS languages.
This is the important part. Try to learn about tag, style and such thing.
Learn XML and XML related technologies, such as XSL and XPath (optional but recommended)
Create simple static websites until you are familiar with and comfortable around HTML.
If you understand enough about above method, then you are ready to be a PHP Programmer.
